New Lighting Industry
Powerweb, Inc. has been developing state-of-the-art lighting technology and electronic lighting control gear for over 15 years. Powerweb's engineering team has an extensive knowledge in lighting ballasts, lighting controls, and solid state lighting drivers. Powerweb has several patents in these lighting controls and lighting control gear fields. Powerweb Technologies is currently working on an advanced LED solid state lighting project that will integrate colored LED controls with new polymers and optics. Powerweb works closely with multiple manufacturers in the lighting and lighting controls market.
Osram Sylvania
Powerweb has worked extensively with Osram Sylvania. Osram Sylvania, the largest electronic ballast manufacturer in North America, has worked together with Powerweb in testing and developing various lighting control solutions in the marketplace. Powerweb has worked with Osram Sylvania specifically with a new line of low power dimmable ballasts called Powersense. The Powersense ballast is a 0-10V dimmable lighting system that utilizes the same power than standard low power non-dimming electronic ballast systems. Powerweb
Technologies has several patent pending designs for
a state-of-the-art wireless turnkey intelligence
package for the lighting fixture and electrical ballast
market. This package is currently being sold to lighting
ballast manufacturers and fixture manufacturers.
This evolutionary Omni-Link™ design incorporates
an intelligence package that enables these manufacturers
to derive new value from their existing lighting
products.
At the core of all lighting products is the electronic
ballast that drives the lamp in most lighting applications.
Traditionally, ballasts have been magnetic with less
electronic interfaces. According to the Lighting
Controls Association, in 2001, the electronic ballast
surpassed the magnetic ballast in total unit sales
volume, the culmination of a trend that had been
years in the making. Electronic ballasts, in fact,
had already surpassed magnetic ballast in dollar
sales volume in 1995. According to the U.S. Economic
Census, in 2002 electronic ballasts represented 57
percent of all ballasts shipped in the United States,
and 69 percent of dollar volume. Considering that
electronic ballasts comprised only 14 percent of
units shipped and 34 percent of dollar volume in
1992, the rapid ascendance of this technology is
remarkable. Dating back to 1986, electronic ballasts
sales were weak, representing just 0.6 percent of
units shipped -- which, is about half of where linear
dimmable electronic ballasts are now.
Powerweb Technologies believes that intelligence
in the lighting market will define new energy efficiencies
as well as provide manufacturers the ability to differentiate
their products from their competitors. The lighting
business has traditionally been a commodity-based
business with low profit margins.
Powerweb Technologies is currently working with
several ballast and lighting fixture manufacturers,
such as Westinghouse Lighting Corporation in order
to integrate Omni-Link™ into their product
lines.
